About Me and Backyard Grill Chef

Hi, im Gerardo Castro and the creator and founder of Backyard Grill Chef, if you don’t know already that i love to cook then you will very shortly.  I was born and raised in Georgia (proud to be an Atlanta Braves fan btw 😉 ) and some of my fondest memories growing up were on a saturday afternoon when my dad would religiously fire up the outdoor charcoal bbq and cook up a feast for our family (5 of us in total). I guess because of our Spanish heritage its just our tradition to cook meat and lots of it lol.

So now that i’ve grown up (getting closer to 30 now) and have my own family i guess i an trying to recreate those memories for my own family. I’m not a professional chef by any means but i’ve been brought up around food and cooking all my life and i guess i’ve somewhat inherited the cooking gene.

So What’s this Site All About?

Over the years ive had some friends of mine ask me advice on BBQ cooking because i sort of do it all the time, to be honest, i actually enjoy sharing and helping people with my style of cooking which i learnt from my dad (and mom) so i started this site so i could document what i was doing. As i got a little more momentum and some feedback i started to grow the site a little more with tips, product reviews, guides and just whatever else people were wanting to know.
